The scrapper is set to take on world star Abdoul Toure from France on March 20, in a WBC International SuperFight.

Scottish fight boss Vinnie McWilliams reckons his man is on the cuff of achieving something quite remarkable.

He told Barrhead Sport: “I’ve managed JR from day one and watched him progress through the years.

“If anybody from Scotland is going to make it at world level then it’s going to be him, Abdoul Toure is a tough test but it’s a test we need to gauge what level we are at with JR and what we need to do in order to get him to that level.

“The fight will take place at the Rivals Sport Centre in Wishaw which is considerably smaller than the normal venue we use so any traveling support had better snap their tickets up fast as they will be like gold dust once released.” Morrison explained: “My last fight didn’t quite go to plan but it was a lesson learned.

“It was my first fight in 18 months after coming back from injury.

“Ninety per cent of the fight went the way I wanted it to and it’s that 90 per cent that I will taking into this next one.

“My whole dream and ambition is to make it a professional fighter fighting at world level so this will be a good test to see exactly where I’m at.

“Some people may think that this level of fight is coming too soon for me but I want to test my level as quickly as possible so I know myself how good I am and how good I can become.

“I have a great job and could pursue a career offshore with big wages at any time but I would only sacrifice that for fighting, that’s why I want the big tests now.”
