Barrhead Community Tennis Club offers two hours of free coach-lead session each Saturday in Cowan Park.

Sessions are held between 1.30pm and 3.30pm as part of the partnership between East Renfrewshire Council sports services and the charity Tennis For Free.

Councillor Mary Montague said at the the time of the iniatitive’s introduction: “This is a terrific idea and it’s great to see it coming to Cowan Park.

“With Andy Murray’s success at Wimbledon and then his mum Judy’s subsequent visit to the courts, interest in tennis in East Renfrewshire has never been higher.

“Our Cowan Park courts have been proving very popular since their £82,000 refurbishment earlier this year so they’re the perfect place to host Tennis for Free sessions.

“Tennis for Free is for all the family to enjoy too, so it’s perfect for getting everyone active on a Saturday afternoon.”
