THE curtain has fallen for another season of curling at Neilston Curling Club as all competitions have been decided.

Members battled throughout the year to get their hands on the prestigious Leggat Cup and MacLeod Cup. The Leggat Cup has been a fixture at the club since 1910 when Neilston were presented the trophy by Andrew Leggat.

The MacLeod Cup was presented to the club in 1893 by the Reverend Peter McLeod, who was the club chaplain at the time.

These trophies will be collected by the winners at the end of season dinner in addition to their individual prizes. Tradition has also been up kept in that every year individual members volunteer to donate prizes for each competition.

The club and the Renfrewshire Province Points Competition was won by James R. Carswell with a score of 45 points out of a possible 56 points, whilst the Pairs competition was won by James H. Carswell and Brian Heron with a score of 10-4.

However, Sheila Smith, who was part of the losing team, did have some success on that night by winning the Johnnie’s Pound Trophy by drawing to the button.
