SOME of the biggest names in junior football will meet at the Brig O'Lea today (Saturday) for Neilston manager Andy Whiteford's testimonial match.

Seven Scottish Cup winners will grace the occasion, including the likes of Johnny Millar, Kevin O'Neil, Mark Cameron, Steven Nugent, Steven Convery, Gavin Duncan and Steven Mallan.

Ahead of the match, from which all proceeds will be donated to the Brightest Star charity, Whiteford revealed he was honoured to see big names turnout to honour his playing career.

The Farmer's Boys boss also revealed his 10 seasons at the club mean the most to him, despite stints at professional outfits like St Johnstone and Hamilton Accies.

He said: "It is shaping up to be a great day and hopefully we can raise lots of money for charity.

"Football comes second in my eyes, the main thing is raising lots of money on the day.

"The charity, the Brightest Star, is one which means so much to everyone connected with the club, and we hope we can do well for such a good cause.

"Everyone involved wants the day to go well and it really means a lot to me that so many players are turning out for the game.

"There are players playing who have won lots of silverware and I certainly know they all have that competitive edge in them.

"It should make for an enjoyable day, not just for us, but for all the fans." He added: "It is nice to have my time at Neilston as a player remembered, I enjoyed it here.

"Having grown up a Neilston boy, coming down to watch the games and then play for my local side, it has been special.

"Now being the manager, it means even more to me, but as a player, I played for a few teams including Hamilton and St Johnstone, but Neilston always stood out for me." The match will kick-off at 1pm on Saturday, with all proceeds going to the Brightest Star charity.

Tickets for adults cost 3 and all children and OAP's will get in for free.
