Arthurlie.......................................2

Largs Thistle................................1

NINE-MAN Arthurlie showed their bottle by securing all three points in a heated clash with Largs Thistle.

Gary Arbuckle and Craig Rowan made their first starts for the club, while John Bradford and Steve Miller were both restored to the starting line-up.

The new look 11 didn't take long to click into gear and after less than a minute they went ahead when a ball from the right-wing was forced home by James Lundie.

Arbuckle playing up front looked like he intended to make the most of his opportunity in starting the game and his pace and movement caused the Seasider's defence problems all day.

On 20 minutes a great flick by Tony McParland found Arbuckle inside the area but his shot his the side netting.

Six minutes later Arbuckle turned provider when he flicked on a long ball into the box for John McLay who saw his right-foot shot brilliantly saved by Stephen Connick.

The first half petered out with no more incident bar McLay picking up a ridiculous yellow card, running for the ball the Arthurlie captain was caught in the face by the flailing arm of Tam Jaimeson, and although it looked accidental the Lie man had grounds to claim a free-kick.

But was for reasons unknown booked by referee Frank Connor.
