NEILSTON rounded off their Sectional League Cup efforts with a thumping defeat courtesy of Pollok at Brig O’Lea Stadium.

It was a bad day at the office for Ton as they ended up with nine men following Allan Diack and Stuart Brodie both being sent off in the second half.

Neilston got off to the worst possible start, losing a goal inside the first minute when a through ball caught the defence out and Davie Winters sprung the offside trap to round goalkeeper Cammy Sinclair and knock it into the empty net.

Pollok doubled their lead in the 21st minute, when McAleenan found space on the left wing, to cross for Hepburn to head home from eight yards.

The Farmer’s Boys reduced the deficit two minutes later. Matthew STEVENSON dispossessed the Lok full back in the penalty box to fire low shot into the corner, giving Jordan Longmuir no chance. Neilston conceded a penalty in the 30th minute when Coyle felled Winters in the box, Hanlon sent the keeper the wrong way into the corner.

Lok made 4-1 four minutes into the second half when Hepburn’s cross found Winters at the back post to blast home past Sinclair.

Neilston found themselves 5-1 down in the 71st minute, when Longmuir’s kick out was only headed by Sinclair as far as Hepburn.

From a Neilston corner Lok broke clear on the counter attack and Hepburn picked up the loose ball to fire an unstoppable shot into the top corner for his hat trick.

The home side were reduced to 10 men in the final minutes when Allan Diack received a second caution, and then things got worse with five minutes left as Stuart Brodie was sent off. He curled his free-kick into the bottom corner to claim the second hat-trick of the game.

Minute later the scoring was complete when Pollok made it 8-1 when they got their second penalty of the game, when Robbie Cameron fouled Winters in the box. John Sweeney scored from the spot and completing the afternoon’s scoring.
