Johnstone Burgh: 2 Arthurlie: 4

Arthurlie made six changes to the starting line up from the previous game against Irvine Meadow when they took to the field against Johnstone Burgh in Saturday's West of Scotland Cup first round tie.

A Joe Andrew double added to strikes from James Lundie and Craig Malcolm saw the Barrhead side through by four goals to two and meant they were in the pink both on and off the park as their new away strip made its debut.

The Barrhead side took the match to Johnstone Burgh right from the off.

After just seven minutes a through ball found John Bradford free on the left and his cutback was just behind Joe Andrew, the Lie forward however turned and shot in one movement to put the visitors one ahead.

Andrew went close again just two minutes later but Fleming in the home goal saved well.

On 11 minutes the game was level, a corner from the right from Dinnen found Martin McIntyre unmarked inside the Lie box and he powered a header past the helpless Kieran Cannon to make it one apiece.

Cannon making his first start for Arthurlie had to be on his toes to touch over a cross come shot from McIntyre on the 24th minute mark but 60 seconds later it was the Barrhead side who took the lead

again.

James Lundie strode out of defence and when nobody closed him down he kept moving up the park before unleashing a right-foot drive that flew past Fleming from around 30 yards out.

Minutes later Stephen Gallacher tried to get in on the act as he burst from defence.

He lost control of the ball in the middle of the

park but managing to block the Burgh player's clearance regained possession and lobbed another defender before crossing for John McLay who hit the ball inches past.

Just on half time Cannon came from his line to collect a long through ball but was caught by a late challenge from Smith.

Both sets of players squared up to over the challenge but it was more handbags than right hooks.

Despite this, Gallacher and Brolly were shown yellow cards for voicing their opinions too fervently.

The second half started quietly until the 15-minute mark when Colin Smith pounced on some

hesitation in the Arthurlie backline to slot home the equaliser.

Craig Malcolm was soon introduced for Bradford as Arthurlie looked to close out the game.

Malcolm had a chance just after coming on when he latched onto a rebound and making space for himself sent in an effort that was well saved by Fleming.

Just after the half hour mark Arthurlie went ahead for the third time, McLay fed Andrew who turned and

fired a sweet left-footed effort into the top corner of the net. With Johnstone searching for the equaliser Arthurlie ended the game as a contest right on full time, without any extra-time.

Andrews's effort was only partially blocked by Fleming and Malcolm was on hand to hit Arthurlie's fourth and send them into the next round of the cup.

It's back to league business on Saturday when Arthurlie travel to Newlandsfield to take on Pollok, kick off 2pm.

Arthurlie: Cannon, Duncan, Dale, Lundie, Gallacher, McLay, Murdoch, John Johnston, John Bradford, Andrew, Bonar.

Subs: Adam, McKeown, Winter, Parry, Higgins, Anderson, Malcolm.
