Neilston co-manager Martin Campbell hailed his side’s top performance against East Kilbride Thistle and urged them to keep up their run of form as they face St Roch’s tonight.

Campbell’s men thumped Thistle 6-1 as youngster Dylan Fletcher bagged four and Allan Diack and Craig Patterson also found the back of the net.

The result means that Neilston extended their unbeaten to run to 12 games following a 1-1 draw with second placed Rossvale on Saturday and a 4-1 win over Thorniewood last Wednesday.

Campbell said: “It was a fantastic performance from start to finish especially given the conditions of the pitch which was not the best and the heavy rain. The boys applied themselves very well.

“If I’m honest we should have had a couple more goals. East Kilbride I don’t really remember them having a chance apart from the goal.

“We dominated and missed two open goals so it could have been about eight.

“The boys were disappointed with the draw so that spurred them on to take it out on East Kilbride and they used it to work in their advantage.”

Neilston sit in fourth place in the Central District First Division with five games to go and have two games in hand over third-placed St Roch’s, but Campbell hopes his side can narrow the gap tonight.

He added: “The game against St Roch’s is a massive game that we need to win because they are just above us in the league table.

“The last three or four games, the team has been unchanged and quite settled, the boys all know their job is, which is good when boys are struggling to get away from work to games and there are injuries and suspensions. Its good to keep that continuity.

“You know what you get from St Roch’s. I have played against them over the years and they never change, they battle away and play right to the death.

They are looking as much as . It will be a tough, tough game. They have got ability.

I would like to think so. We are at home as well. “Playing them at our place is good because it’s a better surface so hopefully it will suit us better.” Kick off at Brig O’Lea is 6.45pm.
