Dunterlie Park hosted an Arthurlie derby with Arthurlie Juniors Under 19’s facing Arthurlie Juniors Under 19’s Whites on Saturday.

Both sides are part of the Arthurlie FC Academy but were facing off in the Paisley and Johnstone Youth Football League with Arthurlie Juniors coming out as 4-3 winners.

To confuse those who don’t attend either side's matches very often, the Arthurlie Juniors FC U19’s were wearing white while the Whites were wearing a red and black AC Milan strip.

The game itself was a great spectacle with top notch goals and no shortage of talent.

It’s fair to say that a few of the players on show will have their eyes on stepping up to the junior side – and won’t look out of place on Saturday’s showing.

A number of them have already been included in matchday squads while Daryl Convery has already moved up permanently.

The game itself came to life on 16 minutes when a corner for the Whites was not cleared and Kyle Kempton hit home a half volley to open the scoring.

Both sides had chances and some great flowing football was on show but neither were able to add to the scoring and the sides went in at the break with the Whites one to the good.

The goals that looked to be coming finally arrived in the second half.

On 48 minutes Ewan Baird gathered the ball on the left and tried a shot that was blocked. He regained possession and, seeing the Whites’ keeper off his line, curled a sublime shot that went over the keeper’s head and into the net.

A minute later and the Juniors' 19’s went ahead. A ball in from the right saw Peter Haggerty pull off a fantastic overhead kick for the goal of the game.

Not to be outdone the Whites went up the other end of the park and drew level through Dylan Stewart on 51 minutes.

The frantic scoring couldn’t continue and although play swung from end to end it wasn’t until the 77th minute that the next goal came.

A ball into the Whites’ penalty area saw Haggerty lay the ball off to Conner McCorry, who hit home number three for the FC XI.

Eight minutes were left when the Whites levelled again through David McGrath. But just as the game looked to be heading for a draw, Baird popped up to settle the outcome.
