For the second year running Stevie Rankin’s Irvine Meadow will provide the opening day opposition as Lie hope to challenge up the table instead of down.

Buoyed by their West of Scotland Cup success just last month, Arthurlie have strengthened in key departments and hopes are high ahead of the new campaign.

The Barrhead side will travel to Meadow Park on Saturday, August 29 ahead of a 2pm kick-off with the Ayrshire giants. Meadow have been boosted in the ranks with a number of additions, including former Clydebank hotshot Ross McPherson and the returning Jamie Darroch who formed part of Pollok’s title-winning defence last season.

However, the big one comes the following week, with the return of the Southside Derby.

Tony McInally’s Pollok will come to town in a much-anticipated fixture which will be the first in the league since a 1-1 draw at the end of the 2013/14 season. Paul Stewart saved the day on that occasion with a crucial strike which went a long way towards keeping Arthurlie up and sending Pollok down for a year in the Super First.

The Newslandsfield side have made several additions to the squad, including the recent signing of Del Hepburn from Vale of Clyde, with the midfielder turning down the chance to go to Lie in favour of Lok.

September 12 will see Arthurlie back on the road, this time to Kilbirnie where they will face last year’s relegation rivals Ladeside.

Bossed by Stephen Swift, Ladeside have made arguably the signing of pre season so far with the reinstatement of David Anderson to the juniors.

The clever midfielder made the switch following a successful spell at Hampden side Queen’s Park. Anderson, who bagged League Two player of the year the season in which Rangers were in the division, has endured a torrid time with injuries in recent months but will be aiming to find his feet in the familiar surroundings of junior football.

All kick-offs are 2pm.
