BILLY Peacock has ‘enjoyed’ a roller coaster past 12 months at Arthurlie.

However enjoyed maybe isn’t the word. Peacock has now seen six members of the coaching staff depart the club since this time last year, or seven if he counts himself.

First to go was Danny Drew, then there was Gavin Duncan and Mark Cameron. Peacock himself left alongside Cameron, before returning at the insistence of new manager Craig McEwan and his sidekicks Craig Potter and Stevie Kerrigan.

But with the trio now plying their trade at Glenafton, Peacock remains an Arthurlie man, an Arthurlie man preparing to take the reins for Saturday’s vital Scottish Cup tie with Rob Roy.

Peacock told Barrhead Sport: “Craig’s departure has come as a shock to everyone at the club, but we have got a game to concentrate on and we need to be prepared.

“It was not long ago Craig was coming in so it is a blow, but you can see his motives behind the move.” However two more Arthurlie men will return to the club to give Peacock a helping hand — Gavin Duncan and former captain David Merriman.

Peacock added: “Gavin Duncan will be coming in to help with the coaching, it just doesn’t make sense for me to trying and take training for 20 boys, it doesn’t work.

“I approached Gavin to ask if he would be willing to help out, and the board are fine with it.

“Hopefully David Merriman will also be on board, we have put the call in and I hope he can also help us out until the time when the club have come to a decision with regards to appointing a manager.”
