Arthurlie boss Gavin Duncan brought his summer signing spree to seven players with a further two additions last week.

Conner McGlinchey from Peterhead and Michael White from Petershill are the latest additions to an Arthurlie squad which has underwent an extreme makeover since the season’s end.

The pair join Richie Barr, Rhys Devlin, Kevin Green, Kyle Raffery and Danny Burns in signing up for the forthcoming season but Duncan insists his transfer negotiations are as good as over.

He told Barrhead Sport: “With Conor and Michael now signed up, I would say that is our business just about done.

“We have managed to strengthen the squad and add a bit of quality to last year so we appear to be in good shape going into the season.” Arthurlie have enjoyed a solid pre season campaign which sees them take an impressive record into Saturday’s Sectional League Cup opener with Benburb.

‘Lie were dogged by injuries throughout last year’s preparations and Duncan admits the thought of last season is still at the back of his mind as his side enter their last few training seasons before the season’s curtain raiser with Irvine Meadow at the end of the month.

He added: “Last year was a nightmare but we are looking good right now.

“We still have a few players on holiday so it is giving all the squad a chance to get a run out and impress us in the games we have.

“The aim is to get off to a good start. We just want to progress the squad, build the confidence and application to set us up for a good season.

“The signs are all there and are good, the player’s attitude throughout pre season has been fantastic.” At the helm for his second season in the dugout, Duncan will be aided by old boss Mark Cameron following the departure of Danny Drew.

And, Duncan revealed he was disappointed to see his old number two depart the club.

He said: “I was really gutted to see Danny go but I completely understand his decision. It was hard because I have known him for a long time and he brought so much to the dressing room.

“Mark is here now and we know each other very well, he was the one that gave me my first coaching role.

“We spoke to each other and seemed to share the same ideas for the club and he was happy to come aboard.”
