ARTHURLIE have enough quality in the ranks to escape relegation according to assistant manager Danny Drew.

With the season nearing its conclusion Arthurlie sit second bottom of the Premier Division with only five games to play. But, with games in hand over the teams around them the Dunterlie Park side’s destiny remains in their own hands.

Drew said: “I have 100 per cent faith in this squad and we fully believe that the boys can pull clear of danger.

“All our remaining games are against teams that we can pick up points against and there is nobody super tough we have thought we can’t win against.

“Honestly, I am confident in the ability of this team. We have the players to get out of this.” Arthurlie head to Townhead Park to take on Ayrshire side Cumnock on Saturday.

Following Arthurlie’s defeat to Largs Thistle a fortnight ago, Drew admitted his side would need to pick up points against sides like Cumnock and Hurlford.

He continued: “We knew following the Largs defeat we would need to pick up points against some of the bigger sides if we are to remain in the league.

“We have to make up the lost ground. We know it will be a difficult tie but if we go there and play like we did against Kirkintilloch Rob Roy then we feel we should be able to pull of a good result.” “Having played well against Rob Roy and decent against Kilbirnie Ladeside, despite eventually falling to defeat, we are confident as a group and as individuals that we can go there and give a good account of ourselves.” Last Saturday’s relegation crunch match with Pollok was one of numerous ties on the junior card to fall victim to the week’s heavy rain.

And, after a week of preparation, Drew conceded that the call off at Dunterlie Park was a blow to his side, adding: “Personally, I was absolutely gutted, we had a great week leading up to the match and we were all ready for it.

“The vibe around the town of Barrhead and around the club was brilliant so when the match was postponed it was disappointing, “But, there isn’t much we can do about the weather and we just have to prepare for the next match.” Arthurlie face Cumnock at Townhead Park, Saturday, April 12. Kick off 2pm,
