Due to the success of the club they have decided to amalgamate with Giffnock in the hope of progressing and sustaining the sport in the local community.

Michael McEwan, manager and founder of East Ren, has hailed the significance of the decision and believes it shows how far the club has come in only it’s first year.

He said: “Times are very exciting for the group right now. Joining with Giffnock will bring a great benefit as a result.

“We can now get sponsorship, the tie with Giffnock will definitely help with that.

As well as the sponsorship we will also be able to get ourselves a kit.

“All we have right now is training kit and the usual stuff like cones.

“I will remain as manager of the team alongside my assistant boss Gordon Roy.

“We will still be running the team, the only difference will be a new name.

“We have sat down and discussed things with Giffnock and they have agreed to allow us to continue to train at Carlibar Primary.” Following only a year of playing Michael has high hopes for the club, which began with a group of four men just wanting a kick about.

He added: “We hope to push towards a league but that would be up to the SFA.

The SFA put out a proposal to see if there was any teams willing to take part in a disability football league in Scotland. It is weird how things have worked out.

“The football team celebrated it’s first anniversary in January there.

We started off as just a group of four guys wanting to play football then it took off.

Through that we soon had 15 guys and two girls coming along and it has been fantastic.”
