ARTHURLIE boss Sandy MacLean couldn't hide his disappointment as the Lie lost their grip on the West of Scotland Cup after going down 2-0 against Irvine Meadow.
The Dunterlie Park side were aiming to win the trophy for the second consecutive season after last year's triumph, however it was not to be and MacLean admitted the performance merited no less.
MacLean, pictured above, told Barrhead Sport: "We were outplayed on Saturday by a very good side and we were just not good enough.
"Going into the tie, we knew it would be tough as they are doing very well in the league but we believed we could get the result we wanted, however, it was not to be.
"They did not let us play and we did not deserve to win, however, we will pick ourselves up for this Saturday.
"It is disappointing to not have a run in the cup after last season's success, and to fall at the first hurdle makes it worse.
"We can't play like we did on Saturday again as it was not good enough and we are much better than that.
"We wanted to reclaim the trophy, but it was not to be and now we will be focusing on the league."
The Dunterlie Park side return to league action when they travel to face table-toppers Ashfield this Saturday in the 2pm kick-off.
