WE WON'T GO ON A SIGNING SPREE
NEILSTON boss Bobby Crilly has bolstered his squad with three new players - but won't go on a summer spree.
Midfielder Brendan McDonald has been brought in from St Anthony's and the Brig O'Lea boss also landed Knightswood duo Matthew Stevenson and Kieran McDade.
Crilly revealed there may be more fresh faces on the way but insists the Farmer's Boys don't need to bring in too many new players.
He said: "I think we lost a few players and we needed to bring in an addition to the squad.
"We have signed most of the players that we wanted to so we're quite happy.
"We also have two or three other irons in the fire.
"We don't want to rush in to sign players for the sake of signing them. We need to sign the right players and try and be specific.
"Last year we brought in 15 or 16 new players and this year we don't need to do that."
As reported in last week's Barrhead News, Joseph Acquah left Neilston for Albion Rovers.
Crilly reckons more Junior players have the chance to follow the striker's example to join the senior ranks.
He added: "He has done well to reach that level and I hope he does well.
"Nowadays Junior players of any age have an opportunity to play at that level.
"Because of the financial situation in football, senior teams are more likely to look at Junior players."
