ARTHURLIE had another blank weekend when the league meeting with Auchinleck was called off an hour before kick-off.

The match itself could have went ahead but due to the constant rain the referee could not guarantee that the game would finish, also taking into consideration the safety of the players.

Arthurlie boss Mark Cameron was gutted the game was postponed and said: "I am obviously a bit frustrated with the situation.

"It is more disappointing that the game was called off as we've arrived there.

"That's us had two games called off in a row and it is not an ideal situation going into any game never mind an important cup tie."

This Saturday it is Kirkcaldy YM who visit Dunterlie Park in the third round of the Emirates Airlines Scottish Junior Cup.

But who are Kirkcaldy YM? Formed in 1970 Kirkcaldy currently play in the East Region Central Division having taken a year out of playing in season 2007/08 due to the loss of an entire playing squad.

The sides have only met once before when Arthurlie triumphed by four goals to one in the 1979-80 Scottish Cup, played at Burntisland.

Kirkcaldy currently sit fifth in their table, seven points adrift of leaders Oakley United but having played two games less. With four wins, two defeats and one draw from their league campaign Kirkcaldy have netted 16 times with nine conceded. Jamie Gilfillan could be the man to watch, with seven goals from 12 appearances for the East Coast side.

Their results over the last few weeks have been up and down, with a convincing 5-0 win over Arbroath Sporting Club followed by a goal-less encounter against Steelend Victoria.

Two weeks ago Kirkcaldy went 1-0 up against East Super League leaders Bo'ness United before their goalkeeper was red carded for a last-man challenge. The roof caved in and they eventually went down by eight goals to one. Last Saturday last they came from behind to win by three goals to one against Bankfoot, Grant McKay, Jason Quinn and an own goal doing the damage.

On paper Arthurlie should ease into the next round but as experience tells us football is played on grass and not paper so Kirkcaldy YM will be given full respect by the Barrhead side.

And Lie manager Cameron is taking nothing for granted going into the tie - so much so he watched them in the flesh two weeks ago.

He added: "I watched them a couple of weeks ago and I had them watched last

week. I found that they were a very workman-like team who don't allow too much time

on the ball and they also have some good players.

"They were mid-table when we drew them and at the time they were quite close Newburgh who we beat in the previous round.

"I thought we could have compared them with Newburgh but after seeing them they will pose a different threat.

"It will be a tough match as they

have pulled off some good results but I know what they are like and who we are up against."

Arthurlie verse Kirkcaldy YM in the Emirates Airlines Junior Cup third round at Dunterlie Park is on Saturday and kick-off is at 1.45pm.

Please note that the AGM of the Arthurlie Social Club will now take place on Wednesday December 9 in the club at 7.30pm, duel members only.
