ARTHURLIE SIGN TWO NEW STARS

Print | Email

Arthurlie have finally announced their first additions to the squad for the season ahead.

Goalkeeper Neil Parry signs on from West Super League rivals Petershill while left midfielder Callan Adam has arrived from Albion Rovers.

Parry made the most appearances of any Petershill player last season starting 36 league and cup matches and has played 153 times for the Glasgow side.

He brings experience and an authority to the side that was sometimes lacking over the last couple of seasons.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Adam steps down from the senior ranks and the Arthurlie management will hope he can fill the problem left midfield slot that will give the team the balance it lacked at times over the last campaign.

These will not be the final arrivals of the close season as the Arthurlie management and executive committee are working tirelessly to bring in the targets they have identified.

Of last season"s squad the bulk of the players have resigned for the season ahead with one or two heading for the exit door.

As a few players are still considering signing offers from the club the management have asked that we do not respect the players until an official announcement is made, which hopefully will be in time for next week"s edition.

Arthurlie open their preseason fixtures with a visit from Cumnock on Saturday July 18 at Dunterlie. Alloa Athletic are next up on Tuesday July 21 with Linlithgow Rose the opponents on Saturday July 25, both games again at Dunterlie Park Barrhead.

The final warm up game sees the Barrhead side travel east to play St Andrews on Saturday August 1.

The real action starts on Monday August 3 when Benburb are the visitors as Arthurlie being their defence of the Sectional League Cup they won last season.

Season tickets for the 2009/10 season will be available at all the home matches and the "Lie have frozen the prices once again with an adult ticket costing £40 while OAPS £20 and children under 16 at £10.

On another topic Arthurlie are currently seeking more pitch side sponsors.

For as little as £10 a week, sponsors will have their own board erected at the side of the pitch advertising their company.

A brochure with all the relevant details and has been put together by the club.

Anyone interested in taking up this fantastic offer should contact Iain Robertson at iainrobbo@hotmail.com, for more details or alternatively speak to anyone on the Arthurlie committee at any of the up coming home matches.
