BARRHEAD'S Barrie McKay has been called up to the Scotland squad following a brilliant season with Rangers.
The honour comes after the former Barrhead youngster starred in a Championship-winning season for the Glasgow giants.
A stunning goal against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi final last month was one of the highlights in an outstanding season for the ex-Kilmarnock player whose reputation as one of the country's top prospects continues to soar.
His rise to prominence at Ibrox has put him back on the radar and now Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has rubber-stamped his international credentials.
The winger will join a 27-man group for the upcoming friendly matches against Italy and France.
McKay's inclusion is just reward for an impressive season with the Ibrox side.
The 21-year-old was a key man for the Light Blues as they sealed their return to Scottish football's top flight.
And there is a chance for further glory when McKay and his Rangers team-mates compete in the Scottish Cup final against Hibs.
