Arthurlie battled back from two goals down against Cumnock Juniors on Saturday but were ultimately left with nothing to show for their efforts.

The Townhead Park team raced into a two-goal lead in Ayrshire, only for the visitors to level the match after the break.

However, Arthurlie were undone by a late sucker punch as Cumnock claimed all three points.

A brace from Robbie Young in the opening period had the hosts cruising but the Barrhead outfit roared back in the second half and made it 2-2 through goals from Dylan Fletcher and Lee Roulston.

It seemed that Arthurlie had the momentum with them at that stage but they couldn’t make it count and were punished when Findlay Frye notched the winner a few minutes from time.

The Dunterlie Park side travel to Benburb this Saturday for their rearranged Scottish Junior Cup fourth round tie, with a 1.30pm kick-off at New Tinto Park.
