Neilston suffered a heavy 4-0 loss away to Rossvale at the weekend in their penultimate fixture of the season with co-manager Derek Carson describing his side’s display as the worst he’s seen since taking over the reigns back in November.

The Farmer’s Boys held their own in a tight first 45 with an effort from long-range the only difference between the sides.

Rossvale made the most of sloppy play from Neilston after the restart, however, as they added a further three goals with Carson letting his side know in no uncertain terms that their performance was nowhere near the standard required.

He said: “That was very poor. We started the game really well with a few chances but couldn’t put any of them away.

“We lost a really soft goal from distance to go in 1-0 down at half-time. I spoke to the boys at half-time and told them to continue the way they were playing but not one of them turned up in the second-half.”

Carson continued: “I had a word with them after the match and told them that whether it was the second last game of the season or not, that kind of performance won’t be accepted at this club.

“That was probably the worst we’ve played since we took over.

“We’re now demanding a big, big reaction from them in the last match of the season against Craigmark Burntonians this weekend.

“We’ll have four weeks off after that so we’ve told them they have to put on a good show, send everyone home from the Brig happy and finish the season on a high.”
