Eastwood High School will contest the 2019 SP Energy Networks Warriors Championship final against Wallace High School later this month at Scotstoun Stadium after coming through a series of tough semi-finals last week.

In a thrilling and high quality round of rugby on the main pitch at Scotstoun, Eastwood and Wallace got the better of Lenzie Academy, Balfron High School and Largs Academy to seal a return to Scotstoun for the final showpiece on Saturday, April 27.

Each school had three teams competing - an S1 and S2 boys’ team and an under-15s girls’ team - with 198 tries served up across 30 matches.

A dramatic late try from the Eastwood girls’ team rescued a draw against Largs Academy in their last game to ensure a place in April’s final at the expense of Balfron.

Relieved Eastwood PE teacher Gordon Reid said: “I didn’t think we had qualified but the last minute try from the girls proved crucial.

“Reaching the final is new ground for us, the matches with Wallace were tight so it should be an exciting final.”

The 2019 final will be played on the main pitch at Scotstoun on Saturday April 27, prior to Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh Rugby.
