Del McNab bags six as Arthurlie hit Dalry for eight

Sinclair was all smiles after the hammering, praising his side for the emphatic victory as they continued their excellent winning run and singling out double hat-trick hero Del McNab.

Dalry did well to beat the weather to get the match on, but they must have been regretting that effort 10 minutes in when Liam Mushet rose highest to head home to open the scoring.

The home side did pull one back 25 minutes but that only seemed to spark Arthurlie into life.

Lie restored their lead six minutes from the break after Tony Etherson laid it off for McNab who netted his first of the afternoon.

Sinclair’s side came flying of the traps after the restart to edge further ahead with a David Reid header. 

McNab got his second as he added the fourth, gathering the ball inside the Dalry area before coolly rounding the keeper and tapping home.

The striker completed his first hat-trick of the afternoon shortly after that with a stunning strike from all of 30-yards leaving the Theeso keeper no chance.

With Dalry down to 10 men, Lie rounded off the rout with ease in the final five minutes with McNab tapping home for his fifth of the day before completing his double hat-trick with a well-taken finish from the edge of the area.

Sinclair was of course delighted with his side’s display but did half-jokingly insist it should have been double figures.

He said: “I’m over the moon with that. We were just too hot to handle in the second-half. That was our biggest win of the season and actually my biggest win as a manager. I’ve never been involved in any bigger scoreline than that, but to be honest it should have been even more than that. Their keeper had a few good saves and we missed a few chances.

“It was the perfect weekend for me. First of all, I didn’t think the game was going to beat the weather but for it to go ahead then for us to play like that was fantastic.”

McNab created history as he became the first player since Lie became a junior side to notch six goals in a single match. 

To cope with his thin squad, Sinclair has been forced to play McNab in a number of different positions throughout the season but admits he’s likely to keep his place up front after that performance.

He said: “Del has been terrific for us. He’s played everywhere apart from in goal which shows what he does for the team. His form up front has been fantastic, though, so he’ll stay there.”

Lie travel to take on Cumbernauld on Saturday in a top four battle with the chance of strengthening their position in third pushing Sinclair and his side on.

The gaffer added: “It’s a massive game for us on Saturday now. 

“They were the last team to beat us in the league so it would be good to reverse that and pick up the three points.”
