High jump duo Allan and David Smith could not find their early summer form as they both fell at the first qualifying round at the European Championships in Berlin.
Both Allan and David were representing Great Britain for the first time at an outdoor senior event and both had shown enough promise last month at the British Athletics Championships to be in with a shout of a medal in the German capital.
But it was not to be after they were drawn in a tough qualifying group.
Paisley athlete Allan finished in sixth place with a clearance of 2.21m and David, from Barrhead, finished further down the field in joint ninth with a final clearance of 2.16m.
And Allan was quick to show his disappointment on Twitter after a frustrating night at the Olympiastadion. He tweeted: "Beyond annoyed with myself tonight. Well clear at 2.21m and should of done the same at 2.25m."
Nikki Manson
They followed Nikki Manson in falling at the first hurdle in Berlin, but all three have exceeded expectations in representing Great Britain for the first time.
Great Britain currently sit third in the overall athletics medal table, with Germany and Poland in second and first respectively.
