Glasgow Clan, formerly known as Braehead Clan, have added another big name to an already exciting roster.

Canadian forward Brendan Connolly has signed up for the 2018/19 season from Elite Hockey League rivals Belfast Giants, where he scored 27 goals and assisted on 46 others last term.

In addition to Connolly, Clan have also signed up fellow Canadian Matt Beca and the arrival of the duo means that two of the top five point scorers from the Elite League last season will now be turning out in purple and black for the upcoming campaign.

Head Coach Pete Russell shared his delight at snapping up 32-year-old Connolly, who is the 17th player in total to join the squad for 2018/19.

He told the Club’s website: “Brendan is a great talent and plays with his heart on his sleeve. He is skilled and aggressive in all areas and is simply one of the best offensive talents in the whole EIHL.

“He is what I call a ‘player X’. Every team needs this type of player in their line up as they make a difference. He plays with total emotion.

“We now have three spots to fill on a roster which I think everyone is excited about.”

Following the signing of Connolly last week, the Braehead based side, also brought in his compatriot, Tyson Wilson.

The 27-year-old, who enjoyed a successful NCAA career with Robert Morris University, played most of last season with Brampton Beast of the ECHL, before finishing up with Laval Rocket of the AHL.
