Neilston co-manager Martin Campbell has urged his side to come out “all guns blazing” as they look to get the edge over Shettleston in the first leg of their play-off contest on Monday.

The Farmer’s Boys secured their spot in the two-legged tie on Saturday after Wishaw slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the Ravenscraig Stadium to Greenock Juniors.

Campbell’s men had previously been beaten 1-0 by the north Lanarkshire side in the last game of the season, a result which cost them their chance to confirm their spot in the promotion mix and left them playing a waiting game to learn their fate.

Wishaw had needed four consecutive wins in their remaining games if they were to pip Neilston to a crack at the play-offs.

But Inverclyde outfit Greenock did Campbell’s side a favour and he admits he is just surprised Wishaw slipped up so quickly and put them out their misery.

He said: “Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to put ourselves up with the Wishaw game and ended up relying on the results of other games.

“I  was   just  surprised  it was as quick as it was with Wishaw failing to pick up points, but I’m just delighted with the boys.

“Over the course of the season they deserved at least to be in the play-offs and now we have got to take the opportunity to go up.”

Shettleston, who finished last in the league above Neilston, lost their last 11 league games of the season, but Campbell insists they will still pose a challenge.

He added: “Being manager of other clubs, I have known them over the years and one thing I know is they will give us everything they
have got.”

Neilston are running a bus to the play-off first leg at Greenfield Park. It will leave at 6.30pm.

The second leg is on June 13 at Brig O’Lea. Both games start at 7.30pm.
