Neilston may look to be heading for the play-offs but co-manager Jon Paul Dow insists he is not taking anything for granted.

His side lie in fourth place in the Central District First Division and can only be caught by Wishaw Juniors, who are 17 points behind the Farmers Boys and have a lot of catching up to do with six games in hand.

If Wishaw were to win all their games before the end of the season they would leapfrog Neilston and take the play-off spot. They would then face Maryhill or Shettleston from the division above to battle for a spot in the Championship.

But Dow hopes to end Wishaw’s hopes when Neilston face them this weekend.

He said: “This Saturday is our most important game of the season. It’s like a cup final.

“We need to go to Wishaw and get the job done. It’s in our hands and we need to go and do it on Saturday.”

Dow’s troops go into the game on the back of an impressive 5-1 victory over Shotts Bon Accord.
