Neilston co-manager Martin Campbell lamented his side’s complacent performance as they made it two defeats in three with a 2-1 loss away to Glasgow Perthshire.
A first half goal from Alan Diack had set the Farmer Boys on their way to a second win of the season over their Glasgow rivals, before a wretched second half display turned the game on its head.
The result was another tough one to take for Neilston, who had gone 12 games without defeat before last Wednesday’s home loss to promotion rivals St Roch’s.
Campbell said: “I think we let ourselves down. I thought we were well in control, but perhaps a bit too comfortable and maybe bordering on complacent.
“We tried to warn them at
half-time that it wasn’t over in any way shape or form and that came to bite them.
“We have been on a fantastic run, but I don’t know what the second half performance was down to and overall we didn’t deserve anything from the game.”
The defeat leaves Neilston in fourth place in the Central District First
Division, nine points off second with four games to go, but they do have games in hand over their promotion rivals St Roch’s and Benburb.
They face Greenock Juniors at Brig O’Lea tonight and Campbell is hopeful they can rediscover their form to close the gap.
He added: “I am hoping it
is just a blip and we can go on and pick the points against Greenock.”
Kick off at Brig O’Lea is 7pm.
