Arthurlie manager Billy Ogilvie has challenged his side to win their remaining home games in the battle to beat the drop in the Super Premier Division.

Just five league games remain for The Lie this season after a 4-0 loss to Auchinleck Talbot on Saturday.

But Ogilvie knows nine points from nine in their final three home games will offer a chance of beating relegation.

He said: “We want to get victories at home – we’ve got three left. If we win all our home games and steal a point or two on the road it’ll put us in a good position.

“The players are working hard. They’re in a difficult
situation and there’s been a big turnaround but they’re doing well.

“We’ve lost about 11 players since I’ve come in so it’s been a big transformation. I can’t ask for any more – the ones who are here have been brilliant.”

Saturday’s defeat at Beechwood Park has left Arthurlie in 10th position, just two off the bottom.

And Ogilvie couldn’t hide his frustration at a couple of decisions that went against his nine-man side.

He said: “On Saturday, we missed a great opportunity to equalise at 1-0.

For their second goal there was three of them offside, which was disappointing. Between that and our missed chance they were real turning points.

“Just before half-time we lost a player to a second yellow card, which I felt was a soft decision.

“I hate going on about referees. I’m a great believer  it’s a hard job and when the decision is made it’s been made.”

The result followed Wednesday night’s 3-2 loss to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, with Hal Bohme and Kieran McLennan on the scoresheet for The Lie.

They play Cumnock at Dunterlie Park tonight, kick-off 7pm.
