Neilston co-manager Martin Campbell insists that his side are treating every game the same as they head into the final stage of the season and the push for promotion.

The Farmer’s Boys are one of four teams battling it out for three automatic promotion spots from the Central District First Division, with the team who misses out heading into a play-off.

Fourth place is currently occupied by the Brig O’Lea side, although they have up to six games in hand on the teams above them.

But Campbell says that he, and his co-manager John Paul Dow, are not even thinking about being the team that misses out.

He said: “Our focus is firmly on getting into the top three. Nobody has spoken about a play-off place or anything like that.

“I know it’s a cliché but you have to treat every game the same. Nobody in the league will come and hand you the three points.”

A hat-trick from Paul Stewart and a Stephen Docherty’s strike gave Neilston a vital 4-1 win over fellow promotion rivals Benburb at New Tinto Park last Wednesday.

Neilston started well and opened the scoring in just the fourth minute through Stewart. They could have scored more with Hollis saving and missing some decent chances.

Bens were reduced to nine men after McLaren picked up his second yellow for a kick at Payne on the touchline and Gallacher was handed a second yellow in the dying minutes. Two of their coaching staff were also sent to the pavilion for remarks to the referee.

Neilston’s game at Yoker was postponed on Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch, but they are at home to Thorniewood tonight. Kick off 6.30pm.
