Neilston picked up a point after they drew 3-3 with Blantyre Vics at KG Stadium on Saturday, writes Dougie Droy.

The visitors should have got all three points against the nine men, letting a two goal lead slip.

Neilston were missing several players due to injuries and other commitments.

Neilston started well and should have taken the lead when Paul Stewart picked out unmarked Kenny McLean inside the area, but his shot was poor and cleared off the line by the defender.

But took the lead in the 18th minute when Paul Young’s free kick was flicked on by Kieran McDade to Stewart, who slotted the ball home off the crossbar.

The Vics responded with Nadeem Zeb setting up Sam MacKenzie on the edge of the box, who put his shot wide.

They found themselves 2-0 down minutes later when Simon McBryde picked up the loose ball just inside the area to curl his shot into the bottom corner.

But the home side were on level terms in the 33rd minute with two goals in a minute.

Firstly poor defending let Zeb in to slot the ball beyond Tiropoulos into the net, next McKenzie found space to fire in the equaliser.

The home side had Neilston on the back foot at the start of the second half and the keeper was in action again as he turned low drive around the post.

The game turned in the minute when Dale Jones was sent off after picking up his second yellow.

Vics took the lead in the 78th minute against the run of the play when Ross Caldwell was allowed to run pass few defenders to slot home low past the keeper.

Neilston responded with McDade’s header hitting the crossbar from Simon McBryde corner and got deserved equalizer minutes later when Stewart ran through to knock the ball home from Kenny McLean’s flick-on.

Vics were reduced to 9 men in the dying minutes when Garry Campbell picking up his second yellow after his shocking challenge on Dylan Fletcher.

Neilston are at home to Greenock on Saturday with a 2pm kick-off. Defender Ross Vedder has moved to Johnstone Burgh u21s and midfielder Jonny McStay to Johnstone Burgh.
