Barrhead Boys Club under-13s made it into the fourth round of the Scottish Youth Football Association Cup 10 years ago.

The team booked their passage into the next round following a 2-1 away win over Westerton United.

Barrhead settled in well and were just getting on top of the game when they fell behind to a penalty after 15 minutes.

But the visitors rallied and regained control of the match.

And the pressure paid off in the 25th minute after good work on the left-hand side between Adam Forde and Steven Curren.

The pair worked the ball well to set up a terrific strike by Kyle McQueen which levelled the tie.

As the second half began, Barrhead took control of the match again, with several chances from Forde going narrowly past the post.

Barrhead’s domination was rewarded with the winning goal three minutes from time.

Forde did well to pick out McQueen on the left and the ball was sent over to Kevin Mackle at the back post.

The youngster then calmly fired into the net from a tight angle.

Barrhead’s deserved win landed them a fourth round tie at home to Ballieston Juniors.
