BARRHEAD YFC 2003 Reds completed a cup double after they won a thrilling West Region Cup final against Drumsagard at the weekend.

The Barrhead boys won 4-3 to add the West Region Cup to a trophy cabinet which also includes the 2017 Scottish Youth Cup.

A hat-trick from Paul O’Hare and a Vincent Scott strike was enough to give the Reds victory over this season’s league and League Cup champions.

Drumsagard were the first to get on the scoresheet from a corner, but Barrhead were able to get back on terms through a great strike from O’Hare.

The game ebbed and flowed with Drumsagard having the better of the exchanges and the went 2-1 up from another set piece that was poorly defended by Barrhead.

Barrhead continued to work hard and were back on level terms thanks to a wonder strike from O’Hare leaving the Drumsagard keeper helpless.

The second half saw Barrhead in the ascendancy and they took the lead through Scott’s strike. Barrhead kicked on and doubled their advantage when O’Hare slotted the ball passed the Drumsagard keeper to complete his hat-trick.

With 10 minutes left in the game Drumsagard got a foothold in the game when a cross was spilled by the Barrhead keeper and the Drumsagard striker drilled the ball home to set up a grandstand finish. Barrhead were able to see the game out and became the West Region Champions to add to their Scottish Cup win this season.
