Ross Penman, who runs local martial arts club I-Kick Martial Arts, claimed victory at last weekend’s WKA British Ring Sports Championships in Rotherham.

In action in the 64-67kg full contact category, Ross delivered an outstanding performance, continuing to show the style with which he knocked out his opponent in his debut full contact kickboxing fight in Edinburgh in November last year.

Coached by his father Brian Penman, an experienced martial arts veteran, the judges decision was unanimous where Ross had a clear win on points after three rounds, giving him the title of WKA British Ring Sports Champion 2017.

The next event for the 24-year-old is the ITF Scottish Taekwondo Championships in Ravenscraig at the end of February, where the eight times Scottish Champion will be on the mats instead of in the ring.

He will be joined by a number of his students who will also be competing at the event, which is one of the largest in the taekwondo calendar in Scotland.

I-Kick Martial Arts run kickboxing classes from age nine to adult as well as kids programmes in taekwondo from age four to adult.
