Barrhead boxer Gary Rae will make his professional debut on live television when he steps into the ring in front of STV cameras in Glasgow on November 24.

The former two-time Scottish amateur champion has followed in the footsteps of his brother Steven and signed with St Andrew’s Sporting Club.

Super-bantamweight Rae is still coached by Barrhead ABC coach and former undefeated professional Mark Breslin.

The pair have been busy preparing for the younger Rae brother’s debut at the Radisson Hotel and Gary is convinced it will be the first step on the road to title success.

He said: “I’m looking forward to the journey starting on November 24.

“I am delighted to be boxing live on STV. It’s a great platform for me to show my skills off and those watching or in attendance on the night will not be disappointed.

“I am confident I can deliver as a pro. I’ve had a good amateur career with Mark Breslin at Barrhead ABC and I’m now excited to move forward. I’m planning on winning titles in 18 months and I’m 100 per cent confident I can deliver them.”

Rae steps up to the professional ranks after a successful stint at Barrhead ABC, where he flourished under Breslin.

And his coach insists Gary has all the qualities required for him to succeed as a professional.

He said: “Gary is a really good fighter and we’re hoping to continue his amateur success in the professional ranks.has the right attitude and I’m fully confident he can win notable titles as a professional.”

St Andrew’s Sporting Club manager Iain Wilson said of his latest signing: "Gary is a fighter we’ve been watching for a while now with eagerness. Gary’s accomplished a lot as an amateur and we are delighted to be the ones to guide him in the professional ranks.”

“His brother Steven is currently 2-0 under the St Andrew’s banner and both brothers will be moved quickly into title action as we believe they both have the ability to win notable titles in the not so distant future.”

The bill for the show at the Radisson Hotel includes Scottish champion Scott Allan and the talented Kieran Smith. Tickets are available from all fighters, by calling St Andrew’s on 01418105700 or emailing info@standrewssportingclub.com.
