Arthurlie left it late to secure their first league win of the season as Chris Mackie headed home in added time seal victory over Troon at Portland Park on Saturday.

Arthurlie bossed the game from the start with the midfield trio of Jordan Leyden, David Morrison, and Ian Nimmo controlling play but for all the possession Arthurlie couldn’t find a way through the experienced Troon backline.

That all changed just after the half hour, Ryan Deas gathered the ball on the edge of the Troon penalty area and as Martin Curren raced past him, Deas laid the ball into the youngster's path and he showed great composure to lift the ball past the onrushing Semple and open the scoring.

On 37 minutes Troon had the chance to level from the spot. Moore burst into the Arthurlie penalty area and when Gavin Rushford put his hand on the winger went down and the referee pointed to the spot. McKnight stepped up and sent Hay the wrong way to make it 1-1.

In added time Troon were dealt a blow as McCrea suffered a broken leg, he was replaced by Muir.

Lie manager Steve Kerrigan made his first change early in the second half as Darren Gribben replaced David Morrison then soon after Mark Blakey came on for Craig Palmer who had been struggling with a muscle strain.

After 65 minutes Arthurlie were reduced to 10 men. A ball into the Lie penalty area saw a few players clash and when the referee blew his whistle Gavin Rushford raised his hands to the face of Moore and the referee flashed a red card at the Arthurlie stopper.

Rushford could have no complaints but eyebrows were raised at only a yellow being given to Forsyth who had put two hands on the face of Graham Girvan in the first half.

It was that man Forsyth who went close soon after but rather than be despondant the 10 men of Arthurlie lifted the tempo and took the game to their hosts.

Deas went close soon after then just before the half hour Blakey tried an audacious shot from halfway that sailed inches wide with home keeper Semple stranded.

A goal was coming and when it did it was worth the wait, Gribben gathered on the right and with no real options ahead of him hit a beautiful low shot that flew past the helpless Semple and put Lie in front.

Everything looked to be going to plan for Lie but in the 88th minute Moore once again went down inside the area this time under a challenge from Blakey and another penalty was awarded, McKnight stepped up again and as before beat Hay with ease.

But the Arthurlie players were in no mood to settle for a point. In added time they were awarded a corner on the left, Deas stepped up and sent a great ball into the six yard box where Mackie found space to bullet a header past Semple and send the visiting supporters into raptures.

Arthurlie don't often make things easy though and just after the restart Hay had to be at his best to make a fantastic save from Forsyth and secure a precious three points for the Barrhead side.
