MARTIN Campbell last night revealed how he was sold on a move to Neilston.

Campbell was named co-manager last week along with former Greenock managerial partner John Paul Dow.

And Campbell said he was instantly bowled over by what he described as a "right good, family community club."

He said: "We finished the season at Greenock and said to each other that we would try to stay involved.

"There was probably one other club (interested) but it didn't feel right.

"But when we went for the interview at Neilston we were blown away by the enthusiasm shown from the committee.

"Even going up to the Brig o'Lea over the years we always knew it was a good club with a good set-up

"It's a right good, family community club and thankfully our interview was successful.

"Now it's a case of trying to take the club in a new direction because I think they got a fright last season, ending just above the relegation zone.

"I think the committee want to ramp things up a bit and take them in a new direction."

Campbell revealed that he's wasted no time in securing the services of nine of last season's squad- with more fresh faces on the way.

He said: "It's not bad going, given the fact they don't know us and we don't know them.

"But that's been the first focus, getting round the squad from last season and speaking to them.

"Now it's about adding a bit of freshness and quality to take us to where we want to be."
