The Colts took the lead in the first half when on-form striker Lucas O’Neill collected a pass from Stephen Pringle and fired the ball past the Burgh keeper. Johnstone Burgh fought back and scored a great equaliser with 15 minutes remaining and the game looked to be ending in stalemate until Lucas O’Neill struck again with minutes remaining, finishing with great accuracy following a mistake in the Burgh defence.
Coach John Gair described the victory as an excellent team performance and added: “From the goalkeeper to the striker the whole team put in a great effort to get us the three points against a tricky opponent.” Next up for the Colts is Cardonald at Cowan Park next Saturday.
