John Wilson, Uplawmoor Tennis Club’s newly appointed coach is faster off the mark than an Andy Murray serve, and can’t wait to get going at the village club.

Wilson is one of the west of Scoland’s top coaches with over 20 years experience in the bag. He has coached and played all around the world, at club, national and international level.

Not to rest on his laurels, he has put in place two, six week blocks of training courses, which started on Thursday, September 17 — only a couple of days after his appointment. One of the courses is for the after school juniors, and one for the Rusty Racquets — senior members who need to sharpen their techniques.

The club has found it is enjoying the benefits of having two coaches and not just one. Wilson’s colleague Massimo Falsaperna, right, whose experience covers everything, from playing competitively in Italy in his early years to coaching tennis as an adult here in Scotland, will provide back-up sessions when Wilson is not available.

Murray Pollok, club president, said: “We are extremely fortunate to have secured John’s services and the backup of Massimo.

“Having a top grade coaching setup is a major attraction to new members, as well as our existing players who want to improve their game, and parents who want to give their children the best possible chance to learn and improve.”
