NEILSTON picked up three points in their last league match of the season, with an emphatic win over relegated East Kilbride, at the Brig O'Lea.

With Showpark waterlogged, the teams agreed to switch the match to the Brig O'Lea to ensure the tie went ahead.

With manager Andy Whiteford and David Wilson un-available, coach Dennis Connaghan took the reins of the Farmer's Boys.

The game eventually kicked off 40 minutes late, and Neilston openened the scoring in the fourth minute when Darren Christie beat a couple of defenders to fire a low shot past Wilson.

Around 10 minutes later, the visitors nearly equalised when a free-kick found Robert Boyle was headed towards goal, only to be cleared off the line.

Neilston made it 2-0 when confusion in the visitor's defence meant the defender headed past his own keeper.

East Kilbride pulled a goal back in the 29th minute when a long throw-in fell to Stephen Jeffries in the box, who turned and shot under the diving Gareth Fulton.

The home side were forced to make a change with Keiron McDade going off injured, to be replaced by Kevin Fraser.

Just before half-time the 'Ton made it 3-1 when Christie found Adam Nisanci who fired a low shot past Wilson.

East Kilbride pulled a goal back six minutes into the second-half when a goalmouth scramble found Collins, who knocked over the line at the fourth attempt.

Another scramble in the visitor's box five minutes later saw Andy Essler scramble the ball over the line to make it 4-2 for the home side.

Neilston made it 5-2 with a Christie penalty after he was upended in the box by a defender.

Campbell became provider as the home side increased their lead in the 75th minute when he crossed for Essler to head home.

The visitors reduced the deficit in the 80th minute when Boyle beat the offside to square for Alexander McMillan to score with a low shot past Fulton. Neilston, however, continued to create chances with a Christie shot being saved by Wilson in goal and Essler lobbing just over the bar.

With minutes left, the home side made it 7-3 when Christie cut in to fire over a cross which was deflected into the back of the net by Thistle defender Michael Burke.
