SO the first question here is ‘who am I?’ Well, kindly allow me to introduce myself.

I’m Peter and, if you think you don’t know me, I suspect you might.

I host the drive-time show on Pulse 98.4.

I’m the guy who makes fun of people who get stuck in chimneys trying to rob shops in Florida. I’m also the guy who tells you an awful lot of stories about…how do I say this…poop.

The good folks at the Barrhead News have kindly allowed me space in their newspaper to write about the events, happenings and situations that occur at the station.

The thing is, there’s always something interesting happening, either on air or behind the scenes.

I’ve long thought that Pulse and the Barrhead News should work together and, for the forthcoming future, we will – and I’m delighted about that.

However, you may not be a Pulse listener, in which case allow me to tell you a bit about myself.

The show I host is called the Big Drive Home and it airs four nights a week, live from 5pm.

I’ve been presenting the show for more than 18 months now. It’ll be our second anniversary later this year.

I try to make the show different from any other drive-time programme you may have heard on any other station because – and this isn’t bad-mouthing anyone in particular – if you listen to the others, they’re mostly all the same.

It’s the same songs, same 20 seconds of link (that’s the talky bit, for those who don’t know) and then back into the music.

There’s not really anything to take your mind off the day you’ve just had, nothing to stimulate conversation with the passenger to your left or the kids in the back or whoever you may be driving with.

That’s why, early on, I decided to do something that nobody else is doing and infused the show with a lot of my own style, both musically and in terms of humour.

I put an awful lot of time into preparing the show (I’ll save that process for another article!) but, at the end of the day, it’s just a silly little show that aims to make you smile.

I would love to hear from you.

You can get in touch with me through the show’s Twitter account @PulseBDH or via Facebook.

Search for Big Drive Home and you’ll find it.

I look forward to engaging with you over the weeks ahead.

It’s good to meet you, Barrhead!
