The outpouring of impassioned statements from both sides shows just how much this school means to the people of the town and the authority itself.

Neither side looks willing to back down from the blame game, and it looks like the story could go on for months, if not years to come.

It’s difficult to see the end game at this point, but we are hoping for the best outcome possible for the school and the pupils of Barrhead.

Also in this week’s Barrhead News we revealed how an incredibly talented young dancer has landed the role of a lifetime in one of this year’s biggest ballet productions.

Robyn McKie has dedicated her life to the art, and now it is paying dividends.

One would hope we have the next biggest ballet star right here in our home town — could we see Robyn performing on the bigger European stage in the near future?

Robyn’s story might go on to inspire other youngsters who are just taking their first tentative steps into performing arts, work hard enough and you never know what you might achieve.

And with just one week to go until Scotland decides, the referendum fever has hit and hit hard with the latest YouGov poll showing that the Yes campaign has taken the lead for the first time.

This seems to have shaken the rest of the United Kingdom to its core, as media coverage of the raging debate is suddenly making front pages across not only the UK, but the world.

We will be working hard to bring you the latest from Barrhead, with views from both sides of the debate and the views of you, the readers, on the streets.

We want to hear from you in the run up to September 18, when #barrheaddecides along with the rest of the country.

Please do keep us posted on your views and thoughts. You can contact us by email at editorial@barrheadnews.co.uk or call 0141 435 8885.

We also host surgeries at Cafe 158 in Barrhead’s Main Street on Thursdays between 2pm and 4pm for anyone who would like to have a chat about a story, forthcoming event or a particular issue you would like to bring to our attention.

We hope you enjoy this week’s Barrhead News and thanks for taking an interest in your local paper.
