A NEW festival of learning is being launched this weekend across East Renfrewshire. The area's Adult Learning Team have really pulled out all the stops for Adult Learners' week with a brand new festival of learning aimed at the over fifties - The EngAGE Festival.

This year, running from Saturday (May 12) until Friday May 18, Adult Learner's Week has an Active Aging theme and is set to inspire and encourage over fifties to take part in an array of activities, taking place across East Renfrewshire.

Festival Ambassador and fifty something, River City actress, Libby McArthur will be performing The F Word, (F is for fifty) at Eastwood Park Theatre this weekend.

Libby said: "What a brilliant Festival. We are celebrating being fabulous and fascinating whilst getting to grips with our feeble and farcical moments that comes with our fifty plus years of life experience." The EngAGE Festival is all about trying something new and there is plenty to choose from. Walking groups, photography classes, oil painting demos, exhibitions, drama and storytelling workshops, yoga classes and a special Bookbug session for grandparents and their grandchildren.

If you want to get to grips with modern technology, there are mobile phone and basic computer workshops plus email and skype classes.

Reminiscence workshops and cookery classes plus knit and natter sessions all add up to a full programme that aims to keep the mind, body and soul active.
