A number of people, including a child, have been taken to hospital following a fire at Cameron House.

Two adults and one child from the same family were taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after the blaze broke out on Monday morning.

A fourth patient was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

The condition of the patients remains unknown.

Guests due to check in to the hotel today have been told that all arrivals have been cancelled until further notice.

More than 40 firefighters are currently on the scene of the fire at the five-star hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond.

Crews were called to Cameron House Hotel at around 6.40am on Monday.

Flames were seen coming from the building with early reports suggesting that three floors of the luxury hotel have been engulfed.

Staff and guests have been evacuated while emergency services try to bring the blaze under control.

Those due to check in to the hotel today have been told that all arrivals have been cancelled until further notice.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 6.44am today to attend an incident at the Cameron House Hotel.

“We dispatched four ambulances, our special operations response team and the trauma team to the scene.

“Three patients, two adults and one child, were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“A fourth patient was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.”

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 6.41am on Monday December 18 to reports of a fire that had taken hold within Cameron House Hotel, Balloch.

"Operations Control immediately mobilised four appliances and an aerial appliance to the scene.

"Firefighters are currently in the process of searching the building while fighting the fire using powerful water jets.

"The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service remains at the scene."

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland added: "Around 6.50am on Monday, police were called to a report of a fire at Cameron House Hotel near Alexandria. 

"A number of guests have been evacuated from the hotel and officers are at the scene and working with other emergency services.

"A number of guests have been treated at the scene for smoke inhalation."

A spokesman for Cameron House Hotel said: "We’re currently dealing with a fire within the main building.

"The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are on site and dealing with the situation. We will provide a further update as soon as we can."
