Resurfacing of St James Interchange will cause disruption to the M8 Motorway this weekend (June15- June18) With almost 50,000 vehicles using it daily, the M8 west of St James Interchange has become worn over time and now needs to be renewed.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out a 215,000 programme that will trial a new surfacing material more suitable to the Scottish climate and elements. The new material will give the road a longer life before it needs repaired again.

The works are programmed to help to minimise disruption to the travelling public, with resurfacing being carried out on both the main westbound carriageway as well as the westbound on-slip.

Colin Mackenzie, Amey's operating company representative for Scotland said: "These works are vital to help ensure the M8 motorway remains in good condition for years to come. The new compound being laid should give a smoother ride for a longer period of time.

While we do not expect the works to cause any major delays, we advise drivers to plan their journeys and leave extra time to reach their destinations, particularly if travelling to or from Glasgow Airport."

Traffic management info: Slip roads *The Junction 29 westbound on slip will be closed during this time with diversions in place.

* Traffic wishing to join the M8 at Junction 29 westbound will be diverted via A726 Barnsford Road onto the A726 Southbar Road then to the M898 southbound on slip at Erskine to join the M8 at junction 30 (Craigton Interchange).
