A MASSIVE crowd flocked to Brig O'Lea stadium to pay tribute to football fan Gavin Currie. A select team from Gavin's beloved Neilston Juniors took on his old workmates in the poignant charity match watched by friends and family, including his mum Margaret. The Neilston Select won 5-3, raising over �2000 for the Royal Alexandra Hospital and Transplant Life UK. It brings the overall fund-raising effort to �11,000.
Neilston player James Canning told the News after the match: "It was a superb effort from all involved." Pal Brian Stevenson said: "A celebration of someone missed and never to be forgotten, the family are just wonderful people."
Gavin, 25, died after being knocked down by a car at the zebra crossing outside the Killoch Bar on December 28, 2011.
