The folks behind Barrhead’s newest community garden, the Waterworks on Glasgow Road, have stepped in to revitalise the town’s parks and countryside paths.

However they are appealing on the town’s residents to help them make it happen, by contributing ideas that will transform Barrhead’s green spaces.

A spokeswoman for Grow Wild, the group behind the initiative, said: “Can you help us to transform Barrhead’s greenspaces?

“Do you live near or use the Waterworks, Cowan Park, Carlibar Park, Centenary Park or any of the other greenspaces around Barrhead?

“Come along and tell us what you think of these spaces and how they connect to the rest of the town.

“What should be done to make these spaces work better and to allow people to use them?

“The events will bring together people who live and work in Barrhead to explore Barrhead’s key greenspaces — Carlibar park, Centenary Park, Cowan Park, The Waterworks and Auchenback.

“We will also be considering how to connect the new development in Barrhead South to the rest of the green network.” The group has organised two sessions for residents to attend on October 22 in the Barrhead Foundry, where residents can share their ideas and see them come to life on paper, before Grow Wild takes them away.

Working in conjunction with East Renfrewshire Council, the idea residents provide will be used over the coming months to create coherency and beautify Barrhead’s new unified green network.

The sessions take place from 2pm until 4.30pm and a drop in session from 5-7.30pm.
