Dougie McColl, 51, from Barrhead, watched the seagull set upon the smaller bird at his home.
The gull, which Dougie described as "as large as an eagle" battered and pecked the mother starling to death as it returned to its nest.
Dougie happened to have his camera on hand, but could only watch on as the gull swallowed the starling whole.
