All four were arrested after police found a haul of drugs that included tablets and powder. Plain clothed officers swooped at the Kerr Street property on Saturday.

A court ordered warrant for the search was carried out at around 10.40am by around a dozen officers, who were acting on intelligence gathered over weeks of investigation.

Now four people — including a young girl under the age of 16 — have been arrested and charged with alleged intent to supply.

Police say they recovered a large quantity of drugs at the property, in powdered, tablet and herbal forms.

Barrhead’s deputy area commander Alan Dickson said: “On Saturday morning plain clothed officers executed a sheriff’s search warrant at an address on Kerr Street in Barrhead.

“As a result of the operation, four people have been arrested and charged with various offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1972.

“Officers who searched the property seized controlled substances in herbal, tablet and powder forms.

“All of the people arrested have been reported to the procurator fiscal for their alleged offences, including a charge of possession with intent to supply.” One girl, under the age of 16 and described as a “juvenile” by officers was taken into custody, along with a man and woman, both aged 34, and a young man, aged 17.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
