Patterton railway station now sports colourful framed paintings by Eastwood High students.
Around seven large panels featuring some of the Eastwood art students’ work have been fixed to both platforms at the Newton Mearns station.
The station is the nearest to Eastwood High and is also used by pupils who live in the Neilston and Uplawmoor area for travelling to and from school. Stuart Maxwell, Eastwood’s head teacher, said it was great to see the pupils’ paintings on display so prominently.
“This is an excellent showcase for the terrific work that is being done in our art classes.” The display was arranged by local councillor Charlie Gilbert, who contacted the rail operator Abellio Scotrail to make the request.
The idea came from Barrhead train station, where stunning artwork by Barrhead High School pupils line the interior.
